This contemporary style residence, set in the hills of Orinda, California, inspired Robert Trachtenberg to consider the use of monolithic stone as the hardscape rather than a combination of concrete, stucco and stone capping. This required that the modules be pieced together like a puzzle, therefore fabricated with very tight tolerances. YMSW provided ongoing technical support during this process reviewing options with Robert to make sure the stone conformed to his design intent. In contrast to the clean, modern architecture, China Green Granite and Dark Grey Sandstone were combined to add a subtle, earthy foundation to the site. Additionally, Robert exploited the use of several hand finishes that added an overall refinement to the look of the project.
